Supe's On

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superhost

Any kid worth their salt in NE Ohio watched this guy every Saturday. He is probably responsible for introducing me to the three stooges, laurel and hardy, godzilla and all of the Universal Monsters along with countless other old horror films.

Hey Willy!

I'm sad to say that, as a child, I held real high hopes that i could one day visit Melmac...
...and also eat cats.

Happy Little Trees....

I used to love to watch Bob Ross paint on TV. I wanted a fan brush so bad, so I could paint "happy, little trees" as well. Best of all, the guy just had FUN painting and creating. Here's the sketch for now, I'll throw some color on it later.....

Dungeons and Dragons

So many ideas here but I thought I'd go with this , just a cool show back when I was a kid , it actually had some characterization ( uncommon with most of 80's cartoons) and even a bit of violence . Not alot ,mind you , but enough to keep me entertained. I would probably cringe to see it now , as most of those shows don't hold up too well ( Spiderman and his Amazing Friends , a perfect example) but hey , it was cool back in the day !

Captain Kangaroo

I chose Captain Kangaroo because it was one of the first TV shows I remember watching as a kid.

Captain Kangaroo was a children's program which aired weekday mornings on CBS from 1955 until 1984, then moved to the American Program Service (now American Public Television, Boston) to air syndicated reruns of past episodes in 1992. The show was produced and the title character played by the late Bob Keeshan, who based the show on "the warm relationship between grandparents and children." Bob Keeshan was the original Clarabelle the Clown on the Howdy Doody Show.

WKRP IN CINCINNATI

By total fluke, the week I get an email to join Art Jumble happens to be the same week I sketched and posted this on my BLOG. So here it is on this blog too. Dr. Johnny Fever from WKRP in Cincinnati, my favorite show as a kid. It was a great show with the perfect cast.

Optimus Prime Is My Hero

Hey everybody,

This is my first post, woot! I'm excited to be part of this grand experiment. When I was a kid, I loved the Transformers. Whenever the show came on, I would sing along with it. "Transpormers, more than eats the eye!" I would spout while chewing on cheerios or chocolate chip pancakes. Optimus Prime in particular, leader of the Autobots, has always been one of my favorite heroes. He's a wise, noble, and strong figure that reminds me of my caring father. He is strong enough to take on the Decepticons and save the world and never thinks twice about rescuing people.

*note- I'll be coloring this in for friday.

COUNT CHOCULA

I was still eating Count Chocula cereal up until this past summer started. In the begining of the summer I decided to give up milk. It wasn't agreeing with my body anymore. So no more milk in my diet. One of the casualties of that decision was cereal. I would still be eating Count Chocula to this very day, if I was still drinking milk. I guess I could switch to Soy Milk or that Lactose Free stuff, but I lost a lot of weight, and intend to stay this way. I guess Count Chocula, the character, not the cereal, had a big effect on me. Bye Count Chocula. We had some good times. But it's OVER!! We're THROUGH!! DONE!!

Peanuts - The Great Pumpkin

I grew up watching older and at that time current Charlie Brown cartoons. My favorite character was Linus, because he was really smart, and when Charlie was having trouble he'd go to Linus for wisdom.

My favorite cartoon of Peanuts was 'The Great Pumpkin', it's more of a movie though. The Great Pumpkin is a Santa Claus-like being that seems to exist only in the imagination of Linus. Every year, Linus sits in a pumpkin patch on Halloween night waiting for the Great Pumpkin to appear. In the movie (and in every comic strip) the Great Pumpkin fails to appear, and a humiliated but undefeated Linus vows to wait for him again the following Halloween, but not this time:

The Wallace and Ladmo Show

For those that did not grow up in Phoenix, Arizona, the Wallace and Ladmo Show was a children's show that was on television for 35 years and was one of the the longest running children's show in US television history (1954 - 1989). I used to watch this show every morning before going off to elementary school to catch the newest episodes of George of the Jungle and of course Transformers.

The characters from the show that I decided to pay tribute to are, from left to right: Wallace, Ladmo, and the bratty Gerald. Ladmo is holding a Ladmo bag which was full of treats and handed out to kids in the audience. I sadly never got one.
